Book Jacket for The Five Little Peppers and How They GrewThe Good Master is an enchanting story about a sweet family living on the Hungarian Plains. The family, Mother, Father, and Jansci, live a peaceful farming life which is thrown into utter chaos when cousin Kate comes from Budapest to stay with them. Can she be tamed by the good master?

In Chapter 2 Jansci and his father and mother continue to struggle with cousin Kate from Budapest. She reveals a letter from her own father that warns them not to trust his impish daughter. She may look angelic, but she’s really planning mischief! Mother doesn’t want to believe that her “poor motherless lamb” could ever cause even the tiniest bit of trouble, but Kate can only fool her for so long.
